Do some research on the various mosques near you beforehand, going online to find out about hours, locations, worship times, prayer or salat, grand mosques near you, adult social functions, society meetings, events for children and adults in the community, the Sabbath, the Holy Prophet, grand mosque, and history of Mecca, a holy city in Islam. After you’ve narrowed down your choices of mosques in your community, contact a few different ones to get more information, such as background, religion, membership, programs, services, bulletin information, celebrations, and salat schedules. Check out a service one day to get a feel for the cathedral, mosque, grand mosque, masjid, building, or community. Listen to the songs, participate in prayer, and view the supplies, such as bulletins, to get more information on the community and parish. Whether you are reformed, or have just moved to a new town and need a mosque to belong to, you aren’t alone. Meet with the Muslim leader at a mutually convenient time to get a feel for the mosque and its Islam belief systems. Find out about the history of the mosque, what larger organization it’s a part of, how many members it boasts, children’s programs, adult programs, school affiliations, and worship and prayer schedules. Teachings are read, in Arabic or English, from the Koran, similar to the Bible for Christians. Most mosques hold daily and weekly gatherings for the community and for the sultan, ruler of a Muslim country. Check out the unique architecture of the Muslim cathedral, taking note of the dome and minarets, which are tall spires with crowns. Before choosing the right mosque for you, keep in mind the mosque’s service schedule, location, religion, history, and belief systems.
